Why We Like It
This is what a solid-wood table should be: inch-and-a-half planks of white oak, hand-finished, with legs that pass through the top so the end grain shows on the surface. There is no apron to hide the joinery and nothing to peel or delaminate. In thirty years it can be sanded and oiled and look new.
Ninety inches seats eight without anyone sharing a corner, and the 37-inch width is generous enough for serving dishes down the center.
The ivory ceruse finish sits in the grain and keeps the oak pale and Scandinavian rather than orange, which is the finish most people are looking for right now and few solid tables offer.
